From finishing school in 1993 in Prince Albert in the Karoo, to leading one of the Western Cape’s top construction businesses, my journey in building and construction has been driven by passion, curiosity, and a commitment to excellence.
After completing my National Diploma Building at the Cape Technicon in 1997, I started as a Project Manager at JJ Dempers Master Builders in Paarl, gaining deep experience across residential, cellar and restaurant development and renovations. In 2012, I joined Scheltema & Co as head of the Residential Ceilings division and quickly expanded into the Commercial Ceilings division. Growth in our Ceilings and Partitioning divisions led to the appointment of Commercial Managers and in 2015 I became Managing Director of Scheltema & Co.
Supported by my very capable and experienced team, Scheltema continues to lead in Industrial Roofing, Ceilings and Partitioning across the Western Cape. Our landmark projects include Shoprite Cilmor DC, Value Logistics, UD Trucks, Lieben Logistics, The Amazon Data Centres, Massmart DC, the Radison Blue and Red Hotels, Zeitz MOCAA, Silo Hotel, Harbour Arch Building, The Onyx, The One student accommodation, Longkloof Studio apartments, Robertson & Caine, Blackheath Industrial Park, many schools and more. Whether we are replacing asbestos roofs, building new roofs, ceilings, partitioning, or creating upmarket finishes, our work shapes the spaces where people live, work, learn and connect.
Scheltema has been a proud member of the MBAWC since 1939. I was elected to the Executive Committee in 2016 and as President in 2025. Through my role at the MBAWC, Scheltema continues to lead the growth, development, and trends in the Western Cape construction industry.
In 2024, we restructured the Commercial Ceilings and Partitioning division to strengthen performance and set it up for future success with the leadership of a young, dynamic team. Under the leadership of Jody Daniels and Zubeir Fisher, our teams continue to deliver landmark projects while building strong relationships with existing and new contractors, professionals and clients.
